Description
The marble mine is one of the curiosities of the region of Samana, in the northeast of the Dominican Republic.
It is a mine which is still in operation, it was closed in 2008 and then its operation resumed. It supplies construction companies and architects with marble for the construction of certain buildings.
The mine is on the way to Boca del Diablo, it is a must stop for visitors going that way.
Seeing the marble mine and the huge boulders that are mined from the mountain is an interesting sight.

The marble mine is located in the town of Cueva del Agua on the path that runs along the coast to go to Playa Fronton.
Las Galeras is about 12 miles and Santa Barbara de Samana at 17.
