Named after the rebel Taino Enriquillo, who in the 16th century led the first revolt of the New World social claim. The region of Barias around the lake is also an area of exceptional natural beauty, it is where fresh water springs are born.
The vegetation that surrounds the lake is a dry forest with an abundance of desert plants, cacti and iguanas of medium and large size, such as the rhino iguana and the Ricordi iguana. Inside the lake you can see the American crocodile in the wild, it is one of the largest concentrations of this species in the wild world. Among the birds, the most impressive and colorful flamingos with vivid colors that move in flocks.
