Description
The Church of the Holy Cross (Santísima Cruz) is located in the city center of Santa Cruz del Seibo, in the east of the Dominican Republic.
It is a relatively small colonial-style church, inside visitors can see various cult objects, paintings, images, jewelry and a cross adorned with precious jewelry and a lignum crucis that was donated by the Vatican. Some of these objects are very old.
The church is old, it was built in 1556 and then rebuilt in 1878 in more resistant materials.
It is one of the rare tourist attractions of this small agricultural town founded in 1506.

Santa Cruz del Seibo is approximately 80 miles from Santo Domingo , 56 from Punta Cana Cap Cana and 40 from Higuey.
