Description
The CEBSE (Center for Conservation and Ecological Development of Samaná Bay) houses a small museum dedicated to the humpback whales which come every year, from January to March, to give birth in Samana Bay.
The museum exhibits a cetacean skeleton, various photos and information on whales. The aim of CEBSE is also to sensitize populations to environmental protection.
The humpback whale watching in the bay of Samana is a very important tourist attraction, hundreds of tourists come from all over the Dominican Republic to observe these fantastic marine mammals. Given the success of this excursion, the number of boats authorized to offer this excursion and to approach the whales is limited in order not to disturb and disturb the animals.

The museum is located in the center of Santa Barbara de Samana, avenue de La Marina.
It is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The entrance fee is RD$ 150 or US$ 3. Note that it is free for residents of Samana upon presentation of an identity document.
