Description
Catalina Island is located near La Romana, in the southeast of the Dominican Republic. With an area of 9 km2, it has a roughly triangular shape and is separated from the mainland by a channel of considerable depth and about two kilometers wide. It is an uninhabited island with the characteristics of a virgin island surrounded by beaches of extraordinary beauty. In its different crystal clear waters are found different species of birds and the fish and coral formations make its coasts an excellent option for diving and snorkeling. It has vegetation made up of thorny trees of subtropical origin.
Catalina Island is a nature reserve in which it is not allowed to build, so no accommodation on site. Cruise ship customers from nearby hotels are frequent visitors to the island. Every day there are excursions to the island from La Romana or Cumayasa in glass bottom or normal boats, to observe the abundant marine life of the seabed.
It is the ideal place for a relaxing stay in full contact with nature. The island has a manager and two guards for control and surveillance.
Catalina Island has more than a kilometer of beach for domestic and foreign tourists who just seek fun in the sun, enjoy white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and a universe of colors.

The island is located off La Romana about 30 minutes by boat. Many tour companies offer to spend the day on the island in "all-inclusive" mode with the boat, meals, drinks and hotel pickup. They pick up tourists from all hotels in Bayahibe Dominicus, hotels in Punta Cana Cap Cana and hotels in Santo Domingo. The prices are variable.
