The beaches of the province of La Romana

The province of La Romana has some pretty beaches which are mainly frequented by the inhabitants of the region and by the inhabitants of Santo Domingo. Casa de Campo beach is reserved for residents of the complex.






La Romana - Dominican Republic

The province of La Romana lies along the Caribbean Sea with about 20 kilometers of coastline, this province does not have many beaches.
Santo Domingo is a hundred kilometers away and Punta Cana Cap Cana is 80 kilometers away. There is an international airport which belongs to the Casa de Campo complex which was built for the residents of the luxury resort to reach it quickly, the airport also receives charter flights.
The economy of the province is based on the cultivation of sugar cane, free zones and tourism. It is also a cruise terminal which accommodates many boats.
The main tourist attractions are Casa De Campo, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon which is a reproduction of a Mediterranean village. Casa de Campo is a luxury complex with golf courses, marina, restaurants, luxury boutique, equestrian center...

The province of La Romana has some beaches:

  • Playa El Caleton (private) located in the Casa de Campo complex
  • PLaya Minitas is a private beach in Casa de Campo.
  • La Caleta is a public beach 10 minutes from the center of La Romana, it is frequented by locals. There are a few restaurants and small hotels.
  • Isla Catalina: island accessible only by boat, allow half an hour of navigation. the island is about 10 km2 and it is uninhabited. It is an excursion offered to cruise passengers.

The province of La Romana is located in the south of the Dominican Republic, between the provinces of San Pedro De Macoris (to the west), of La Altagracia (to the east) and El Seibo to the north.
To the south is the Caribbean Sea.
