Cabanas in Dominican Republic
Cabanas are not for tourists, but you can go if you want, without kids.
What is a Cabana
A cabana is a kind
of motel where you can rent a room for three or four hours
and extend it for one night. Cabañas are not for tourists,
but you can go if you want, without kids.
Cabanas are mostly built in U, with a central path and parking lots on the sides. You enter the room right from the parking. Offers different rooms, prices and equipments. They are mostly located in the suburbs of Dominican Republic city, but also on avenues.
In Santo Domingo, you will find cabañas on the highway that goes to San Isidro airport, on each side of the road, during one or two kilometers, you’ll only see cabañas and more cabañas, with suggestive names (La oficina = the office, Passion, Andromedra…).
How it works
You arrive by car and choose one of the open garages; the room type
and the price are indicated. You park your car and stay inside the
vehicle while pushing a button to close the garage door. Then you
enter the room through a door. Once your inside, the phone will
ring and the receptionist will ask (in Spanish) for how long you
want the cabaña, and if you want to eat/drink. You can also
bring your own beverages since supplements are quite expensive.
Through a serving hatch, you’ll receive the bill and your order. You just pay and will not be bothered anymore. Here, everything happens without seeing anyone and without being seen. Once it’s time to leave, you get in your car and bye bye.
Price of a cabana
The price of the cabana depends of the room “type”. There are rooms with Jacuzzi, dance floors, presidential suites… but the cabanas are not expensive and the price is per hour (3 or 4 hours). Example: cabana with Jacuzzi: 960 pesos for 4 hours.
