Boca de Yuma
is a small city in the province of La Altagracia, bordering the
Caribbean Sea, at the east of Higuey.
Yuma residents say is a voice from the Taino language, characteristic
of the peoples of the Caribbean islands and the name is due to the
proximity of the mouth of the river of the same name.
Is a paradise of peace and quiet, the main activity is fishing,
on the Malecon there are many small restaurants that offer fish
and lobsters.
Not have beaches in the village, Playa Blanca beach is accessible
by boat from the village.
Boca de Yuma worth visiting, and stay there if
you want peace and rest. Very few tourists stay in this small village,
Boca
de Yuma has two small hotels only.
Tourist attractions and places to visit in Boca de Yuma
Cueva Berna
This cave has many great qualities petroglyphs, some
300 figures are carved on the walls and floor. Berna Cave is located just
outside Boca de Yuma, going to the Parc del Este. The road is specified
and it is possible to go by car.
Tip of the virgin
The tip of the Virgin is a panoramic view
where you can see a magnificent view over the bay, Playa Blanca, Cabo
San Rafael, and south of the city, where the guns are still preserved
from the era of colonization.
Yuma river
Yuma River is navigable for about 2 km, the fishermen
of the village (for about 1300 pesos) can make you up the river where
you can see iguanas, pelicans and other birds, and the cave of the pirate
Cofresi.
Playa Blanca
This beach is accessible by boat from the fishing port
of Boca de Yuma. This range could be nice if it was not overrun with trash
transported by the Yuma river with floods and currents.
Pirate Cofresí cave
It is located in Yuma River, the cave is virtually blocked
from Hurricane Georges in 1998.

National Park Del Este
Between Bayahibe and Boca de Yuma, one of the richest reserves of the country with many species of birds, dolphins, manatees... With 420 km2 it is the largest park in the Dominican Republic. This park is one of the main ecological tourist attractions of the Dominican Republic.

Juan Ponce de Leon Museum
The museum Juan Ponce
De Leon is located in the small town of San Rafeal de Yuma, a few kilometers
before Boca De Yuma. This house castle was the home of Juan Ponce de Leon,
a Spanish conquistador, who lived in the Dominican Republic before moving
to Puerto Rico. This museum features furniture and objects from this period.

Beautiful little village at the seaside of the Caribbean. To visit absolutely during holidays in Dominican Republic.
