Boca Chica is the closest beach to the capital, is located on the Caribbean coast about 30 minutes from Santo Domingo.

This small tourist town of Dominican Republic has a few all inclusives hotels and many small cheap hotels and aparthotels. Throughout the beach there are many restaurants and bars that offer typical Dominican dishes.

One of the main interests of Boca Chica (in addition to the beach) is its proximity to Las Americas airport, Santo Domingo and the Colonial Zone.

Boca Chica has been one of the leading tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic, it still retains an important place although as destination Punta Cana, Bayahibe and La Romana have exceeded.

Boca Chica is historically one of the first tourist destinations when the Hamaca Hotel was built in the 1950s. Tourism development began with the bourgeoisie of Santo Domingo. As of the 1980s, Boca Chica beach became a popular beach that attracted many people on holidays. On weekends and public holidays, the inhabitants of the capital come and enjoy the beach and the sea.

There are 3 beach zones in the municipality:

• Boca Chica (Swimming, Restaurants and Night Life)
• Andrés (sailors and sports fishermen)
• La Caleta (divers)
