Santiago de Los Caballeros is the second city of the Dominican Republic (1.5 million inhabitants), after Santo Domingo (3 million inhabitants), the administrative and economic capital. It is located in the north of the country, 1.5 hours from Puerto Plata.
Santiago is a big city, it is an important economic and financial center. The services sector has developed strongly. The economy is based on trade, industry and agro-industry.
It is not a tourist town, but the city has some historic and museum monuments. Santiago de Los Caballeros is a dynamic and lively city. The beaches of the North of the Dominican Republic are less than 2 hours away.
