San Felipe de Puerto
Plata (Puerto Plata only) is the biggest tourist
town on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic.
It was founded in 1502 as a continuation of the first Spanish settlement
in America. Annually hosts thousands of tourists coming to stay
in the dozens of hotels that occupy its banks and enjoy its beautiful
and warm beaches. The city and its surroundings have a dozen all-inclusive
resort, hotels
and aparthotels
for all budgets.
The city is known as the Amber Coast because there are large deposits
of this stone and a museum with some of the most interesting specimens
found.
The economy of Puerto Plata based on tourism, but
also an important agriculture and food industry, particularly rum.
The main tourist areas of the province of Puerto Plata are Luperon, Sosua,
Cabarete,
Playa
Dorada and San Felipe de Puerto Plata, which are all high-end

In addition to its beautiful beaches, the most important tourist
attractions are La Loma Isabel de Torres, the national
