San Juan de la Maguana - Dominican Republic

San Juan de la Maguana is a city of the Dominican Republic. It is located west of the country in the Cordillera Central and the Sierra de Neiba. San Juan de la Maguana is the capital of the province of the same name, where is the largest peak and the Caribbean, Pico Duarte.
San Juan is crossed by many rivers, including the San Juan River, the Rio Yaque del Sur, the Rio Sabaneta, the Macasías and Mijo.

This is one of the most important agricultural provinces of the country. Among the agricultural products there is rice and beans. Livestock has also an important part with cattle, goats and sheep, especially dairy farming. The only important industries are agro-industrial plants for rice and dairy products.

Although San Juan de la Maguana has a rich and diverse natural for ecotourism, tourism is not developed in the region. Pico Duarte is the main attraction. The city has some small hotels.
Since its founding, it was a thriving city with its rich flora, surrounded by beautiful mountains, cool climate and very kind people.
